16th November
The shooting session was useful as many issues were raised. The location I am using to shoot in is perfect(Media studio) and with it being a totally black room it looks great with the lighting and my actors costume. The actor is wearing mainly white; white doctors/dentists shirt with white skinny jeans with a keyboard painted down one of the sides, his face is also painted completely white with black eyes and mouth. We also discovered that as there are many shots with his hands (close ups of playing the keyboard) for our next shooting session I will bring medical gloves, this emphasizes the doctor theme and overcomes the issue of using white paint to cover his hands.
The white paint was a draw back, as the actor's face had to be a really strong white and the face paints I had brought were really poor quality so in order to make it look good I ordered some professional stage paints for the next shooting session.
30th Novemember
This shooting session was very productive. We booked the studio out for the afternoon which gave us more time than we needed to get the simple shots done. The new face paint worked really well and looked great on camera. The actor/musician got into his character really well which shows through when watching back the takes. In the next session, we intend on bringing in the speaker and instruments, with input from the actor he suggested the chracter should sit on the speaker instead of a chair which was my original idea.
11th December (final)
A few changes were made, the first one was the chair, it wasnt going to suit the mise en scene therefore we decided on including a large Amp/speaker for the actor to sit on which looked so much better. Another problem we faced was getting the speaker to vibrate enough to be caught on camera this shot was vital as it is part of the 'opening' in my music video. ( close up shot of speaker) we over came this by getting a much smaller amp, in the end this became a moveable prop for the actor. This enabled him to hold it in various places one idea we had which worked well was to hold it on his chest like a heart and the fact it was beating, gave a even better effect than was expected. The bigger amp was used as a static prop and this was great for the actor to do lots of different positions.
EDITING
- Since starting to edit I am very pleased as no problems as yet have occurred. I have loads of footage to work with, therefore my original worry about not having enough to keep up with the amounts of cuts is not a problem.
- I found that I had filmed two parts of the footage on separate days but in the same location, however when looking back at the footage the lighting is slightly different. The 1st block of footage has a warmer/orange lighting therefore the contrast of the black and white was not as bold as the other block, which was how I wanted. In order to make the footage the same I had to use the filter effects to apply to the first block of footage making them the same level of light and colour as the other footage.
